We believe less is more.
Laucke flour from Strathalbyn, South Australia. This is a specially selected flour best suited to our pancake batter.
Whey Isolate is simply whey protein that has been filtered in a process to help remove the lactose in the powder itself. This is to create a leaner and lower fat protein source.
We source ours from Australia and if there are supply shortages, the USA.
Pea protein powder is made from yellow split peas and does not contain any dairy. It’s naturally gluten-free and hypoallergenic.
We use a blend of protein's to get the best pancake texture.
Did you know Baking soda is Sodium Bicarbonate? And Baking powder is just sodium bicarbonate mixed with an acid, usually cream of tartar, and cornstarch. It needs moisture and heat to make carbon dioxide.
We use both in our mix to create the rise and resultant fluffy protein pancakes you know and love.
Maca is a cruciferous vegetable related to broccoli, cauliflower, cabbage, and kale.
Maca is native to the high plateaus of the Peruvian Andes mountain range.
We include it in our pancake mix for it's health benefits and earthy taste!
We use a fine Sea salt from Olssons, here in South Australia.
The suggested description for most of our flavouring powders is 'Natural Flavours' (industry standard recommendation) although we recognise the sometimes negative connotations with this blanket term. We have carefully selected our flavouring powders for quality and origin for this reason. Upon our own research the term 'natural flavours' seems to be used to avoid describing technical terms of sub ingredients such as extracts (like vanilla) or concentrates, and isn't inherently bad.
We source all of our flavouring powders for each flavour from a company in Victoria, Australia which makes all of their own flavours.
Buttermilk: Buttermilk Powder Natural Flavour (Lactose), Vanilla Powder Natural Flavour consists of; Natural Vanillin, Vanilla oleoresin (basically just different extracts of vanilla beans).
Salted Caramel: Caramel Powder Natural Flavour.
Chocolate: Chocolate Powder Natural Flavour, consist of; Cocoa, Dextrose (a simple sugar derived from corn), Natural Vanillin (primary component of the extract of the vanilla bean), Cocoa Distillate (concentrated form of cocoa), Natural Vanilla Oleoresin (concentrated substance extracted from vanilla beans)
Maple Bacon: Maple Flavoured Powder, 'Natural Seasoning' - Meat Rashers Seasoning
📝 We've added some extra information in brackets for some of the technical descriptions of the sub ingredients. As you can see from the technical terms of these sub ingredients they generally are just fancy versions of the underlying ingredient e.g. vanilla extract.
Thaumatin is a natural sweetener which is sourced from the katemfe fruit, found in the West African rainforests.
Thaumatin is considered a protein and not a carbohydrate, unlike a lot of other natural sweeteners, and contains 4 calories per gram. Its level of sweetness is rather potent in comparison to sugar and therefore only a tiny amount is required, which is exactly why we selected it for our pancakes!
Nutritional deets 👀
You'll find the specific nutritional information for each flavour in the product photos for each type! But here's Buttermilk... and they're all pretty much the same.
