Questions, answered.

What kind of pan is best for pancakes?

A flat, shallow pan with a non-stick surface is best for pancakes, and our ceramic Pancake Pan is built for exactly that. Deep frypans give you curved sides and nowhere to get a flipper under. Ours is happy on induction and gas, and the coating is free from PFOS and PFOA. One 40g serve makes one large pancake, so there's no juggling four at a time!

Why do pancakes stick to the pan?

Pancakes stick to a pan that's too hot, too cold, or scratched. Medium heat fixes the first two — hot enough to set the edges, gentle enough not to catch. Keeping metal utensils off a non-stick surface fixes the third, which is why our Flipper is wooden. Batter matters too: a quarter cup of mix to a quarter cup of water pours thick enough to hold together.

Is cooking in ceramic pans safe?

Yes! Our ceramic Pancake Pan has a coating free from PFOS and PFOA, the two compounds people usually ask about. That's the honest version — we can speak for our own pan, not every ceramic pan on a shelf somewhere. Treat it kindly and it'll last: medium heat, no metal, and the wooden Flipper or silicone Scraper instead of a knife.

How do you flip a pancake without breaking it?

Our wooden Flipper slides under the whole pancake in one go, which is the trick to turning one without tearing it. Wait for the edges to set and a few bubbles to pop before you go near it — that's the bit most people rush. Wood won't score a ceramic surface the way metal can. The silicone Scraper handles the bowl, BPA-free and heat resistant to 200°C.

Is it worth getting a pancake pan?

Our ceramic Pancake Pan earns its keep if pancakes are a weekly habit rather than a once-a-year event. The appeal is boring, honestly: same heat, same result, every Sunday. If waffles are more your thing, the Waffle Maker's plates are PFAS-free! Orders leave our South Australia warehouse within 2 business days.
